Safeguarding Ambassadors At School (S@S)
The Training Journey
To become an official Safeguarding Ambassador, students undergo a comprehensive 10-session training course. This training equips them with deep knowledge in several key areas:
Key Learning
- Safeguarding & Communication
Defining safeguarding and evaluating how the school communicates safety information.
- Anti- Bullying
Identifying different types of bullying and leading campaigns to drive positive change.
3.Online Safety
children learn about age restrictions, the "4 C's" of online risk, and teaching others how to stay safe.
4.Contextual Safety
Identifying risks, such as road and beach safety, and campaigning for improvements.
5.Capturing Child’s voice
developing strategies to ensure children's ideas and worries are shared with school leadership.
Graduation and Awards
The programme concludes with a formal Award Ceremony. Upon graduation, Trainees officially become Safeguarding Ambassadors and are awarded an SA@S pin badge and a certificate signed by the TKAT Trust Senior Safeguarding Leads.
Our Ambassadors at Royal Park
Our Ambassadors are easily identified during lunchtimes by their designated high-vis jackets. Once trained, they take on a vital role within the school as:
• The Voice of the Child: Acting as representatives for their classmates to ensure every child’s voice is heard by school leaders.
• Safety Leaders: Serving as the "eyes and ears" for safeguarding worries and helping peers find the right person to talk to if they are concerned.
• Active Partners: The Ambassadors hold half-termly meetings with Mrs. Walsh, the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), to discuss ongoing safeguarding topics and share concerns raised by pupils across the school.
• School Representatives: Meeting with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors to provide feedback on safeguarding and the "child's voice".
Impact Since 2025
Since the ambassadors programme began in 2025, our SA@S Ambassadors have made a significant impact by:
• Leading safeguarding assemblies to educate the school community.
• Supporting pupil voice surveys to capture the views of all children.
• Setting up lunch hubs to provide peer support.
• Organising fundraising events and successfully raising money for the NSPCC.
